HIKING: Table Rock

← NC CATAWBA RIVER AT SR1223 LAKE JAMES NEAR BRIDGEWATER NC Triple Blaze →

Description

A 2 mile, well-marked, trail with views of the Gorge as you're hiking up to the ridge. The views from the summit of the mountain are incredibly and well-worth the strenuous climb.

Directions

Ok from Boone North Carolina, take 105 to Linville. Get on 181 South (turning by a yellow gas station). Look for a road to your right called Ginger Cake Rd. You will see signs that say Table Rock parking picnic area, you are in the Pisgah national forest. Go down and the road forks off to the left and becomes Table Rock Road. Take this. Go about 2 miles to the top of a narrow road. When the road turns to gravel, go about a quarter of a mile and be looking on your left for a trail head. There is no sign, but there is parking for about 2 cars to the right of it. Park here, or down a little farther if there is no space. You will know you are on the right path when you start hitting jumps. You will come out on a gravel road. Take this road to the left. Its a pretty good climb from here, and you can cross 181 and enter Greentown/Upper Creek trail. This trail has some pretty big jumps right off the bat, and dead ends into a campground. From here you have to cross the creek to your right. And i have been told it loops back around.
